8th Natrang Theatre Festival of the year 2018 concluded here today with a well designed presentation of Hindustani play ‘Apna Apna Dard’. The play was written by Hammidullah and directed by Neeraj Kant. Through this play, the writer endeavoured to portray different layers of human relations.
While wishing Happy New year to all Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur said that it is the matter of pride for all the members of Natrang that we have set an all-time record in the country of staging 32 (Thirty-Two) different plays by the same group in a short period of eight months.
As the name suggests, the play ‘Apna Apna Dard’ presents different layers of human emotions in different relations and also the deep sorrow associated with them. Everyone has his/her own expectations which may not go in synch with the expectations of others thus the pains erupt. Though the play dealt with different stories but the common character which remains in central position throughout the play is a young girl, ‘Madhu’ who is not having a happy life because of the circumstances.
She endeavours to change her situation but she opted a wrong choice for it which punishes her till her death. The play also teaches us that one has to make right choices to lead a happy and successful life and if our intentions are good but the choices are bad, we still are destined to be doomed and this is what happened with ‘Madhu’ in the play.
She had very innocent aspirations like have a family of her own but to fulfil this, she picks a wrong person which ruined her life.
The moral degradation and decay of human values which is getting worst with the changing times was very clearly presented in the play.
Till we are not introduced to someone, everything in his/her life may appear to be alright but the whole scenario changes once we get to know the real pain that person is suffering in order to live life.
Natrang actors who acted in the play included Meenakshi Bhagat, Vrinda Sharma, Sushant Singh Charak, Manoj Kumar Lalotra and Shivam Singh. Lights were designed by Shivam Singh and executed by Neeraj Kant whereas music was rendered by by Brijesh Avtar Sharma The show was presented by Sameena Kousar and coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen.
