A meeting of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Scheduled Castes (SC) Cell was convened today under the leadership of Vijay Lochan, Chairman of the JKNC SC Cell at Palli Morh Bishnah. The meeting was conducted with an aim to review the post-election scenario following the recent Parliamentary polls and to strategize for the upcoming Assembly elections.
At the commencement of the meeting, Jagga Ram Bhagat, Vice President of the JKNC SC Cell, Jammu Province, provided an in-depth briefing to the senior functionaries regarding the problems being faced by the marginalized sections of society. He highlighted the persistent issues affecting the depressed communities and underscored the necessity for urgent redressal. He pointed out the significant hardships faced by the youth residing in these regions, primarily due to the absence of a dedicated welfare policy for them.
In addition to youth issues, Rakesh Singh Raka, Vice President Central Zone, highlighted the hardships faced by farmers due to the unavailability of irrigation water and regular power supply for their fields. The scarcity of water and power supply is significantly impacting agricultural activities, leading to widespread discontent among the farming community. Raka assured the farmers that the MSP shall be given to them if NC voting in power.
Addressing the party workers, Vijay Lochan expressed grave concerns about the worsening conditions along the border areas in absence of elected government in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the present dispensation has miserably failed to stand on the expectation of people ofJammu and Kashmir. Vijay Lochan criticized the government’s inaction in initiating a recruitment drive for two Border Battalions as promised by the Govt, which could provide much-needed employment opportunities and security for the border youth. “The youth in the border areas are grappling with severe difficulties due to the lack of targeted welfare policies,” Lochan observed, adding “The government’s failure to launch a Border Battalion recruitment drive has left these young individuals without viable opportunities, exacerbating their plight.” Looking ahead to the upcoming Assembly polls, Vijay Lochan emphasized the importance of these elections for the JKNC, especially in view of seven Assembly constituencies are reserved for Scheduled Castes. He termed the upcoming elections as crucial for the party’s objective to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir for the development and upliftment of the people of J&K who are facing multiple problems for the last ten years. “These Assembly polls are of paramount importance for us. It is essential that we strengthen the party base at gross root level and ensure a robust strategy to secure victory in these reserved constituencies,” he added. The meeting concluded with a resolution to strengthen the hands of JKNC President Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah and to redouble the efforts of party cadre in fortifying the Party’s strength for making the next government of National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir. Among those who were present in the meeting include: Jatinder Bhagat, Ashwani Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Ram Lal Karloopia, Ram Pal, Darshan Lal, Kuldeep Singh Manhas, Subash Chander, Jameet Raj, Jagi Ram, Lal Din, Kuldeep Raj and others.
