National Conference OBC Cell has called for uninterrupted power supply and regulated drinking water across the Jammu region in view of the holy month of Ramzan and the ongoing summer spell.
Expressing concern over frequent and unscheduled power cuts and scarce supply of drinking water, the OBC Cell has observed that the people were suffering hugely. “The situation is quite alarming and highly deplorable, as the PDP-BJP government has miserably failed in shouldering responsibilities towards the citizens”, the OBC Cell leaders said at a meeting here, which discussed various issues confronted to the state in general and the OBCs in particular.
The meeting was addressed by the former minister Babu Jagjivan Lal, Co-Chairperson OBC Cell Mr Abdul Gani Teli and District President OBC Cell Reasi Mr Ram Prakash Verma among others.
Babu Jagjivan Lal sought standard quality and adequate quantity of food-grain stock at the PDS sale outlets, saying that the consumers are made to wait for days together for rations, apart from the food-grains being of not standard quality. He demanded adequate stocking on all the depots.
District President Mr Ram Prakash listed various issues confronted to OBC communities across the district, which included issuance of category certificates and enhancing the income slab besides extending various welfare schemes to the members of these communities.
The National Conference leader assailed the coalition government for failing on all fronts.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included : Mohd Ayoub Bhat, Mr Raj Kumar, Mr Gurdev Singh, Narin Datt , Mohd Iqbal, Ch. Abdul Rashid, Mr Tafail Hussain, Mr Rattan Lal and others.
