A productive meeting was held between Col MK Sharma,Commanding Officer 2 J&K (Independent ) Company NCC , Bhaderwah and Dr Javed Iqbal, the newly appointed Principal of Government Degree College (GDC) Doda. The discussion focused on various aspects related to engagement of youth in combating climate change as well as Social Service and Community Development activities. Key Points Discussed were Tree Plantation wherein Dr Iqbal expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming tree plantation drive under Van Mahotsav 2024 and potential benefits of promoting environmental sustainability. As part of SSCD Activities, measures to mitigate Drug Abuse were discussed to employ strategies to raise awareness and prevent drug abuse among students.
To make the youth aspire for inspirational services and be the agent of change, grooming of students for Group A services and Defense Services was discussed. Dr Iqbal showed keen interest in providing necessary support in selection of talented youth as well as providing infrastructure for their grooming. Towards better training, the importance of quality Infrastructure was discussed and possibility of construction of Obstacle Course within the college premises was explored to enhance student’s physical fitness and risk taking propensity ; a necessary element for assuming the role of a leader. It’s heartening to note that the NCC curriculum is making a huge positive difference in engaging the youth in activities contributing towards the national efforts of realising the dream of “Viksit Bharat”-(Devloped India) through meaningful contribution in Environment and Sustainable development and increasing the position of the nation in other human indices.
