National Cadet Corps (NCC) Infantry wing of Government MAM College Jammu organized a weeklong celebration of Kargil Viajy Diwas which concluded on 26-07-2019. The welcome address was presented by SUO Sachit Karloopia. On this occasion, Col. Sukhbir Singh Assla, Commanding officer of the 2 J&K boys Bn NCC Jammu was the Chief Guest. War heroes of Kargil war Sub Major Deepak Singh and Rtd. Rifle man Kuldeep singh were special Guest both belonging to 13 JAK Rifle. Their dedication to serve the country alongwith their contribution during Kargil war made the mission a success. Shaheed Capt. Batra and Shaheed Major Jasrotia also belong to this regiment who was awarded with Param Vir Chakra during operation Vijay in 1999. The whole regiment 13 Jak rifle was declared param vir chakra regiment. Sub Major Deepak Singh presently with 2 J&K Bn NCC and Rifle man Kuldeep singh were invited resource person on the occasion. In his address, they shared with students, different mantras to become Army officer in this most competitive world. They emphasized on the major challenges that need to be addressed by the current generation students.
They further mentioned that there is no shortcut to hard work and success needs more effort than luck alone. On this occasion Major Dr. Karan Singh, Associate professor and NCC officer of the college presented the report of the week long activities conducted by the NCC cadets which include group discussion, Rallies, March from college to Balidan stambh, Special parade, painting competition, plays and skits, display of videos clips made by Army HQ, putting off up banners and special lecturer. He said that such initiatives fulfill the dreams of our students and anybody with the zeal to think big, dream big and imagine big should be given platform like this for support and guidance.
The War heroes were presented momentos by Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul Convener IQAC of the college as a mark of respect. Prof. Devinder Sharma Assistant Dean Cluster university of Jammu presented his views and explained the meaning of the martyrdom.
Professor (Dr.) P. K. Sharma, Principal MAM College, in his address to the students, encouraged them to Join Army and serve for the Nation and he also advised them to have an effective role in sharing social responsibilities. He appreciates the efforts of the NCC candidates and NCC officer of the college in organizing the event.
The programme was attended by Prof.P. S. Thakur, Prof.Jasvinder Singh, Prof.Meenakshi Thakur, Prof Riddi Sharma, Prof. Vijeeta anand, Prof. Kiran Koushal, Prof.Richa gupta, Prof Shahnawaz Parveen, Prof. Meena Gupta and a galaxy of teaching and Non Teaching Staff members. Media heads and students of College attended the function..
The programme was compared by SUO Shubam Randawa, JUO Vishav Pratap Singh and JUO Prem Kumar and Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Major Karan Singh. The students also appreciated the effort of the college for this event.
