Nami Dogri Sanstha Jammu has expressed deep sorrow and grief on the untimely death of Smt Shakuntala Joshi founder Principal of Lawerance Public School. NDS in its Executive Body meeting paid rich tributes to Smt Shakuntala Joshi and lauded her services to the society in the field of education and social work. Wife of Wing Commander Man Mohan Joshi she perfectly played her role as a daughter, wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She was proud daughter of former MLA and eminent social worker late Ram Chand Khajuria of Billawar. She added new dimensions to the education in private sector in the state. NDS lauded her qualities of head and heart. She was described as an example of empowered woman and an icon of hard work, patience, mannerism , social work, cordial and respectful relationships. NDS described his untimely demise a great set back to the society.
On the other hand, Writers and Artists of the state have expressed deep grief and shock on the demise of Shri Rajinder Kumar Raina an eminent and renowned tabla player of the state who performed at national and international levels and brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir. He explored new horizons in the field of tabla playing with his magic fingers. He took forward Jenab Allah Raha ji’s Dogra legacy of tabla with zeal and dedication. Struggle and life time achievements of Mr Raina are source of inspiration for the budding and young artists.
The NDS fraternity was visibly shocked to recall that only five days before of his passing away he was felicitated with “Allah Rakha Ji Pride” which he accepted and received smilingly accompanied by his wife Sudesh Raj former senior Programme Executive AIR, his daughter Swati Sharma and son-in-law Bhumesh Sharma. On that day his disciples , fans, admirers , friends and eminent artists had participated in large numbers and he was very happy and jubilant on the occasion but unfortunately it turned out to be his last public appearance and he exited in Narayana Hospital on 9th may, 2019 while under treatment there.
Office bearers of NDS and Artists have paid rich tributes to Mr Raina and said that his passing away has created big void in the literary and artistic circles of the state and his services in the field of art and music shall be remembered for ever.
