A Press conference was held at Hotel Lord Inn. While addressing Press Media MLC Ramesh Arora highlighted the issue of Jammu identity & culture and expressed its importance & commitment of Nationalist forces present in the Dogra region of this State. He said that many items of Dogra culture have faded away and lost their cultural value. The spirit of Dogra culture is valuable and has played an important role in Unity of this state with rest of the Country. Dogra culture was recognized by leader like Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and he included the Dogri Language in 8th schedule, but with passage of time, we feel it is important to revive the traditional culture because it has deep roots of Nationalism. MLC Arora further said that “CHAJHA” culture was one of the traditions which existed 30 yrs back but now at the verge of extinction.
An organization namely “DOGRA WARRIORS” has been formed which will be managed by a committee constituted to revive this traditional culture . “Chajha” in fact, represents the sign of prosperity and is symbol of Peacock with his wings fully spread. “The committee of the citizens include shri Deewan Bansal Industrialist, Shri Vijay Trehan, Arya Samaj, Shri Rajinder Arora Addl MD JK Media Group, Shri Samant Singh Director Citizen Cooperative Bank ,Shri Parbhat Singh Gen Secy Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Shri Narayan Singh President Kshatriya Rajput Sabha, Shri Pervaiz Malik Social Activist, Shri Prabhu Dyal former President Brick Kiln Owners Association, Shri Arun Khanna Corporator, shri Suneet raina Corporator, shri Satish Verma Media person, Shri kapil Arora working President Arorabans Sabha, Shri Dharmender Kumar Social Worker , Shri Daljeet Singh Social Worker, Shri Bharat Gandhi Ex MLA, Shri Ashish Sareen Social Worker, shri Ashok Gupta ASL Tutorial MD. Shri Prem Sadhotra Gen Secy Bar Association of Jammu will do the needful to revive the same culture” said Mr. Arora
MLC Arora informed that a competition of “Chajha” presentation will be organized on the eve of Lohri i.e. 13th of Jan 2019 at old secretariat Mubarak Mandi at 9 AM and many dignitaries including Divisional Commissioner have agreed to participate in the same.
After distribution of prizes to the winners, the Chajha with participants will move in Main Bazaars of Jammu City in a procession which will culminate at Raghunath ji Temple Jammu.
