We The Human – Forum For Nature and Mankind, a registered Public Charitable Trust working for conservation of Environment in J&K since January 2018, released its News Letter ending November-2018 at K L Sehgal Hall Jammu. Prof. R D Sharma Vice-Chancellor NOIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY and former Vice-Chancellor Jammu University was the Chief Guest on the occasion, whereas the function was presided over by Mr. Amit Sharma, KAS, Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Jammu. Mr Ali Afsar Khan KAS Controller Legal Meteorology Department Jammu and Kashmir and Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar KAS, Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Administration and Enforcement) Jammu were Guests of Honour. Among others present on the occasion, prominent were K Y S Manhas Retd Principal District & Session Judge, Capt Lalit Sharma IFS, M. Sadiq Nargal Senior Food Technologist, S Prem Singh, Om Parkash Verma, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Retd Chief Engineer I A Hammal, Retd Deputy Commissioner B S Jamwal, Mohinder Kumar, Inder Parihar, Anil Gupta, K C Dubey, Dr M L Bhamugu, Amarjeet Kour, Jagdish Sharma, Payal Dogra, Seema Thapa and Anuj Verma.
K.Y.S Manhas Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the trust welcoming dignitaries and participants made an appeal to the authorities to get awakened up and devise out innovative strategies to meet the present environmental challenges & hazards posing threat to survival of Nature and Mankind caused by unsustainable development, during last three four decades and unending human greed to become rich overnight. He said that We The Human took an initiative to work and achieve a society free from menaces like excessive use of pesticides, herbicides, adulteration in food and milk, burning of plastics, unscientific disposal of solid and liquid waste, use of low grade plastic polythenes, single use plastics etc. as these are posing threats to health of people as well as polluting our environment.
The girl Students who took part in the Seminar on “Demerits of Plastic Burning” at Women College Prade Jammu on 24th September, 2018 and on “Solid Waste Management in Jammu and Kashmir” held at Women College Gandhi Nagar on 4th of October 2018 were awarded with certificates of Honour which comprise Vishaka, Muskan, Purnima, Talveen, Aarya and Ivanka from Women Prade College and Mehar Fatima, Himani Kotwal, Vishali Bakaya, Sampada Kak, Preeti Parihar and Taneesha Jamwal from Women College Gandhi Nagar. Special awards were presented to Kamal Rohmetra Daily Excelsior, B L Saini Head Punjab Kesari J&K, Mohammed Aslam Batt Chief Editor KNS, Vijay Sharma Kashmir Times, S. Mohinder Pal Singh Senior Journalist Ajeet Samachar Punjabi, Waseem Batt Online Editor KNS, Raman Raina Senior Journalist The Shadow, Sahil Verma Sub Editor State Times.
The News Letter, besides depicting feild activities of the organization contains informative articles and write ups of various experts. The articles on “Rural Prosperity through Aromatic Plants” by K K Sharma consultant CSIR-HIM, “Organic Farming” by Puja Gupta MD Himalayan Bio Organic Foods, “Zero Budgeting Farming” by Dr. Parvani Sharma, Assistant Professor Shoolini University Solan and Organic “Agriculture” by Prof. Haroon Naik, SKAUST Kashmir are appreciable both in terms of contents and social message. The Editorial by M. Sadiq Nargal, Chairman Editorial Board on vital Environmental issues in thought provoking. The article about Shilpa Mahajan an educationist, social activist and national awards winner from Akhnoor provides information about a girl in rural area; how she fulfilled dream of her mother in law and provided international level schooling in Akhnoor, apart from working continuously for women’s empowerment. Prof. R D Sharma in his address emphasized upon management of our natural resources on scientific and sustainable basis.
He said that natural resources are life line of a nation and viable balance needs to be stuck between developmental needs and the environment and all legislations in place for the purpose need to be followed in letter and spirit.
Dir CAPD Amit Sharma, in his presidential address said that the government machinery coupled with peoples participation can do wonders in all fields including environmental protection and issues like food safety, solid waste management, use of pesticides, herbicides and use of plastics. He assured full support to the charitable trust in fulfilling its objectives.
