NFDB Training Programme “Integrated Fish Farming” Concluded at KVK-Doda

Three days ‘NFDB-Hyderabad’ sponsored training programme on “Integrated Fish Farming” for the youths/fish farmers of district Doda concluded today at KVK-HQ at Bhaderwah, under the guidance of Directorate of Extension Education, SKUAST-J. There were total of 50 participants including 31 females. The programme was inaugurated on Monday by Dr. AS Charak, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK-Doda in the presence of the officer from Department of Fisheries, Govt. of J&K and the KVK-Scientists. Dr. Charak explained about KVK activities and its mandates. He also briefed about the importance of this NFDB sponsored training programme.
On first day of the programme, Mr. Ganesh Sharma, Department of Fisheries, Govt. of J&K, Dr. AS Charak, Scientist, KVK-Doda, N. Paul Scientist, KVK-Doda and Course Coordinator & Fisheries-Scientist Dr. GN Jha from KVK-Doda delivered lecture/imparted training covering various fisheries topics like Importance and economic benefits of fish farming, Types of fish farming practices, Construction of fish farm, different types of integrated fish farming practices, etc.
Dr. Paul explained various NFDB schemes for fish farmers and given some task to the participant to prepare NFDB projects. The daylong session was very interactive & informative to the participants. The farmers/youth raised several queries and showed their best interest in the training programme. All the participants were taken to Govt. Fish Farms at Gatha and some other private fish farms at different nearby places on second day, where Dr. Charak, Dr. Paul & Dr. Jha from KVK-Doda were the experts. The farmers/ youths were exposed to the ground condition where they played with the various fisheries activities. Participants got hands-on training on various farming & management practices, so that they can be enabled to opt fisheries as an enterprise.
Day third was very interactive and Mr. MM Mintoo, Assistant Director Fisheries-Doda, Govt. of J&K and Dr. Neeraj Kotwal, Sr. Scientist, RHRSS Bhaderwah was the experts.
It was very encouraging for the participants to have ADF as an expert of the day, who delivered lecture on Concept and importance of integrated fish farming, and various other topics.
Dr. Kotwal, delivered lecture on possibility and scope of apiculture on pond dyke. Dr. Charak & Dr. Jha showed several videos on different activities of integrated fish farming, its management, and various model of integrated fish farming. The participants requested the organizers to organize these kind of very good training and skill development programmes in future with longer duration so that they can get more expertise in the field. The three day long programme ended with certificate distribution by Mr. Tahir Nadeem Senior Journalist, Dr. Kotwal, Mr. Mintoo and Dr. Charak and vote of thanks by Dr. Jha.
