NHPC Limited organized State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation-2018 today at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. 06 students who stood 1st, 2nd & 3rd in their respective Categories in the competition were awarded Rs.20,000/, 15,000/ & 10,000/ respectively and 20 students were awarded consolation prizes of Rs.5,000/- each in an impressive prize distribution function, presided over by Sarita Chauhan,IAS, Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Department, J&K Government in presence of Chander Mohan, Regional Executive Director of NHPC for J&K.
Pertinent to mention that NHPC was entrusted with the responsibility of organizing School and State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation-2018 by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. These Painting Competitions are part of National Awareness Campaign launched by Ministry of Power for promoting Energy conservation in the country, which is need of the hour.
Earlier, all the Schools across the State of J&K were requested to organize Painting Competition in their Schools amongst students of class 4th, 5th, 6th (Category-A) and 7th, 8th, 9th (Category-B) and to send 2 best paintings from both the Categories to the State Nodal Officer. As many as 270 Schools & 28725 students from the State of J&K participated in the School Level Painting Competition in the two categories. On Nov. 05th, 2018, Jury consisting of eminent Artists and representatives from State Education Deptt., selected 100 paintings out of the 516 paintings received from various schools.
100 students thus selected at School Level appeared in the State Level Painting Competition. Arushi Gupta of Presentation Convent School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Karan Kumar of Govt. Girls High School, Sarore, Jammu & Divyansh Bharti of Springdails English School, Kathua won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively from Category-A and Palvi Kumari of Fatima Convent High School, Bishnah, Parvinder Kour of KV No.1, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and Insiya Verma of Heritage School, Sainik Colony, Jammu won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively from Category-B.
Apart from Regional Executive Director, Sr. Officers of NHPC Regional Office, Sh., Sh. Sion Tirkey, Chief (HR), Sh.B.M. Gupta, Chief(Finance), Sh.Ramesh Kumar, Chief Engineer(Civil), Sh. R.C. Sharma, Manager (PR) & Nodal Officer for J&K State Painting Competition, Media Persons, Jury Members, students, their Parents, Teachers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest said that this is a matter of pride that our small school children along with their parents are part of the Energy Conservation Campaign launched by Ministry of Power, Govt. of India & Bureau of Energy Efficiency which shall go a long way in power conservation in the country. She was of the firm opinion that these small ambassadors of energy conservation shall revolutionize the campaign launched by Ministry of Power.
Sh. Chander Mohan, Regional Executive Director NHPC briefed the Chief Guest about the proceedings of the School & State Level Painting Competition & also about the campaign launched by Ministry of Power. He further said that NHPC Limited is proud to organize School/State Level Painting Competition in the State of J&K for 14th consecutive year.
He also advised the students to convey the message of Energy Conservation to all they are connected with. The programme concluded with prize distribution and vote of thanks presented by State Nodal Officer.
