Nikhil XI reaches semis of Kathua Cricket

KATHUA, June 19:
Nikhil XI today reached the semifinals of the district Kathua tournament for JKCA Premier Cricket Championship beating Abhishek XI in the first quarterfinal played at Sports Stadium, here.Batting first, after winning the toss, Nikhil XI set a big target of 247 runs for eight wickets in 30 overs. Skipper Nikhil remained top scorer with 48-ball 51 runs while Shubham and Shivam Singh contributed 44 and 42 runs respectively. Raghu (24), Anubhav (22) and Gourav (22) were other contributors to the team’s total. Shanu and Naresh shared two wickets. Abhishek XI Kathua was too weak to face the Nikhil XI bowlers with the result the whole side bowled out for 82 runs in 15.3 overs to lose the game by a huge margin of 165 runs. Kaybe and Rajat were top scorers with 31 and 18 runs respectively. From Nikhil XI, Muzamil claimed three wickets and Munish bagged two. Nikhil, who hit half century for the winning team was declared man of the match. Dheeraj Andotra and Mohan were umpires in this match.
UHAMPUR: Meanwhile, in another match of district Udhampur, Latti Cricket Club defeated ACC-B by seven runs in a preliminary round match played at Government Degree College ground, here today. Batting first, Latti Club made 133 runs for six wickets in 20 overs a side game. Dheeraj Singh and
Mehboob Suleman were main scorers with 44 and 26 runs respectively. From ACC-B, Sourav and Bharigu Sharma claimed two wickets each.
In reply, ACC-B exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 126 runs for seven wickets. Shubam Kapoor made highest 63 (off 53 balls) runs. Inderjeet added 20. Rashid and Asif Wani took three and two wickets respectively.Later, Dheeraj Singh was named man of the match.
