The NIS Club lifted the men’s District Jammu Kho-Kho trophy after they outplayed Parivartan Club by wafer thin margin of one point in the last minute of the game at Green Fields ground, here.
It was skipper Pankaj Malhotra, who being an experienced player, did the trick with sudden change in the game strategy thereby guided the side to a 21-20 win in the all important game. Sunil, Sharma, Sahil, Prashant, Sandeep, Harsh, Haney and Yogesh also played superbly for the winning side of NIS Club. From Parivartan Club, Palbinder, Raaj and Jagdev fought well. Meanwhile, the women’s title went to SAI Club, who outplayed NIS Club 7-4. Kashu, Ambika and Richa played well for the winners SAI Club.
In the finals and valedictory function, president J&K State Kho-Kho Association, Manmeet Singh was chief guest, who gave away the title trophies. He appreciated their finalist teams for their fighting spirit and efforts put in during the last couple of minutes of the game.
Speaking on the occasion, BS Tirthi appreciated the efforts of coaches Ajay Gupta and Dheeraj Sharma. He asked the players to work hard so that they may find a place in the upcoming Kho Kho Premier League.
Matches officiated by the technical penal including Ajay Gupta, Dheeraj Sharma, Amrinder Singh and Vishal Malhotra. Present among others were Harjeet Singh (general secretary), Mahesh Abrol, Tarmeet Sheenu, Rohit Tidyal and Raahi Jamwal.
