JAMMU, Jan 17:
Wrestyler Nisar Ahmed of J&K Police, who hails from district Doda, defeated Gurpreet of Zirakpur in Chandigarh won the 17th Dhara-Ardhan Dangal, organised by Dhara-Ardhan Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association at Pail (Ardhan) in Mera Mandrian, tehsil and district Jammu.
Dangal was witnessed by a large gathering of wrestlers lovers from Reasi, Pouni, Akhnoor and Jeeri. A record 83 bouts decided were in this day-long event.
The winner of the main bout awarded with a cash prize of Rs 12,000 while runners-up, Gurpreet got Rs 9,000. The awards presented by the chief guest, president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma, who was accompanied by other special guests, Sarpanch Rohit Sharma, Range Officer, Surinder Singh (president of Dangal Committee) and Surjeet Singh (vice president) as also Som Dath, Jatinder Singh, Kuljeet Singh and Rashpal Singh.
In the second main bout, Ajay Sharma of Landen Power House (Udhampur) downed Amir Khan of J&K Police to receive a cash prize of Rs 9,000. Runners-up, Amir Khan presented with Rs 6,000 prize. The third main bout went to Roshan Lal Sharma of J&K Police who defeated Johnny of Attari in Amritsar while Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhawal defeated Suresh of Pathankot in the fourth bout.
Two women wrestling bouts also took part in this dangal. In the first bout, Pooja of Panipat defeated Sweety of Delhi while Kirti of Luckhnow in UP won the other bout beating Neha of Rajasthan.
Members and technical officials who helped in smooth conduct of this dangal included Mohinder Singh, Pawan Kumar, Kuldeep Singh, Faquir Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Kartar Chand, Munish Kumar, Mohd. Fareed, Tulinder Kumar, Sunny (Airtel), Capt. (Retd.) Lehar Singh and Master Ram Krishan.
