Director Nitesh Tiwari is a household name in Bollywood now, but not many know that he actually started out directing commercials.
To this day, the filmmaker proudly conceptualizes and writes the campaigns for Amitabh Bachchan’s game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).
”Personally, I am very proud of every campaign that I have done for KBC. I am also thankful to Sony for buying such great stuff. Something as good as what the client needs. I can’t take the entire credit myself, the credit goes to my writers.
It’s very heartening to see that this show has been running for such a long time (since 2010) and we have managed to do good work every year.
Though honestly speaking, it’s not easy to be giving different and unique tag lines to every campaign. It becomes a herculean task,” the Dangal director shares about the experience.
“I have been going ahead and writing different compelling taglines purely because it was a triumph for me as a writer,” he adds.
Nitesh reveals that all his work for the show is run past KBC host Amitabh Bachchan, who even complimented his team once.
“Amit ji said, ‘If Nitesh and team are writing the tagline for the campaign, they must be surely writing something good’. Coming from someone of that huge stature, it meant a lot to us. This is the biggest compliment for us. As we all know is that Amitabh Bachchan is very careful in whatever he chooses to do,” he gushes.
As for his current endeavours, Nitesh is busy writing a film based on Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy and his wife Sudha, which will be directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari.
