Nitish Mahajan, Co-Incharge of Social Media Department, BJP, Jammu and Kashmir, today delivered a thought-provoking guest lecture on the advantages and disadvantages of social media in today’s era.
The lecture, organized by the MDK Foundation (NGO), was attended by a diverse audience, including notable figures such as Asger Ali, District President of BJP ST Morcha in Jammu North, Molvi Talib Hussain, Mohd Anwar, and Saleem Khan.
Nitish Mahajan underscored the critical nature of social media and emphasized the importance of using it responsibly.
He stressed the need for authenticity and urged individuals to verify the data and sources before sharing any information on social media platforms. “Social media can be a powerful tool for communication, but it must be wielded with care,” he stated.
During the interactive session, Nitish Mahajan highlighted the significant role played by social media in mobilizing people towards the policies launched by the central government, especially during the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.
He discussed how social media can be utilized to engage the public and create awareness about various development programs initiated by the government, while also cautioning against the spread of misinformation and negative agendas propagated by certain entities.
“The focus of today’s session was to empower the public to form informed opinions about government policies and remain vigilant against the dissemination of false information,” he explained. “By harnessing the potential of social media, we can work towards building a more informed and aware society.”
The guest lecture concluded with a vibrant discussion and exchange of ideas, highlighting the growing importance of social media in shaping public discourse and facilitating citizen engagement.
