Nora Fatehi, who rose to stardom with her electrifying dance performances in blockbuster songs, has finally spoken out about the financial side of her career. Despite her immense contribution to the success of films and viral dance numbers, she admitted that music labels and producers have been profiting from her work while she received no financial compensation. In a candid conversation with BBC Asian Network, Nora revealed how she came to understand the business dynamics of the industry. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “When I started featuring in songs that were breaking the internet, helping films succeed, and influencing box office numbers, I realized that everyone was making money except me. There’s revenue from YouTube, streaming rights, and even the films benefitting from the hype of these successful songs, but I was doing them for free. The only money I made was from live performances and events, but there were no intellectual property rights (IPs), publishing royalties, or other revenue streams for me.”Beyond her dance numbers, Nora has expanded her presence in films. In 2024, she starred in Crakk, Madgaon Express, and Matka. Looking ahead, she is set to appear in the Hindi film Be Happy, the Tamil horror-comedy Kanchana 4, and the Kannada action thriller KD – The Devil.
