Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party made a strong request to the President of India to direct Lt. Governor of Jammu & Kashmir to release all detenues/political prisoners who have been detained under PSA for more than 3 months. NPP Supremo who is Sr. Advocate in the Supreme Court also conveyed to the President that PSA is no more a valid law nor it could be used to detain any Indian citizen who has completed three months in detention with no FIR registered against him.

Prof Bhim Singh said that detention of all placed under detention in Jammu & Kashmir including Ex-MLAs, Ex-MPs & the leaders of political parties is illegal, unconstitutional and malafide and all those who shall be detained beyond three months in detention shall be entitled to appropriate compensation . This, he said, is the law and the Supreme Court of India had awarded compensation to him (Bhim Singh) and several other Panthers Party detenues for their illegal detention. It is, therefore, urged that President of India who has been an Advocate in the Supreme Court of India himself must intervene without delay so that political leadership in Jammu & Kashmir may mobilize the new generation in Jammu & Kashmir which has not accepted the decision of the Govt. of India to revert J&K status from statehood to a Union Territory (UT).

The Panthers Party held an important meeting in Jammu which was attended by NPP Chairman, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh, President, Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia, Vice Presidents, P.K Ganju, Masood Andrabi, General Secretaries, Ms. Anita Thakur, Mrs. Manju Singh, Mr. Basharat Ali and others. The NPP has also decided to hold an urgent convention of the Party to take urgent decisions to unite all secular, democratic and like minded political parties to unite and operate to save the freedom, liberty, fundamental rights and political freedom from the present system which has deprived all citizens in J&K of their political rights and freedom.
