Jammu, Sep 19:
Accusing Prof Ashok Aima, the Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu (CUJ) of indulging in corruption in appointing non-teaching staff and issuing advertisements to some national dailies at commercial rates instead of rates approved by Directorate of Audio and Visual Publicity (DAVP), the cadre of National Secular Forum today held a strong protest demonstration against Prof Ashok Aima, the Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu (CUJ).
NSF State Secretary Ishtiaq Naik said that CUJ authorities committed bunglings in the recent non teaching appointments owing to which the selection list was uploaded on the University website after joining of the appointees.
Also, the name of selected candidates was not displayed on list and instead their roll nos were shown to keep things under cover, he added.
He further said that DAVP had issued an order to all the Central Govt Departments/Autonomous bodies/ Organizations asking them to issue advertisements for all purposes only at DAVP rates. “Recently, the DAVP once again issued that order reiterating the earlier directions for strict compliance. But, the CUJ authorities deliberately ignoring the said directions issued advertisement to a national daily at Commercial Rate which resulted in loss to government exchequer,” he said.
Earlier also the CUJ indulged in unfair practices with regard to issuance of advertisement to several newspapers and this is being done to suppress the critical news stories, he further said and added that the Vice Chancellor, who has committed several wrong-doings in his three and half year tenure so far, was trying his hard to prevail upon media houses so that his ill deeds were not highlighted in media.
“Prof Ashok Aima himself got the advertisement approved for release at commercial rate instead of DAVP rate despite being fully aware of the order issued by concerned department. He is misusing the govt money for his personal gain which is an act of corruption.
He appealed the Chancellor G Parthasarthy and HRD Ministry to order probe in this matter and throw him out to save the institution,” he demanded. Among those who were present in the protest included, Anshu Sharma, Surjit Kumar, Rahul Sharma, Vinay Sharma, Ajesh Dubey, Tushar, Sameer gupta and others.
