Jammu, Jan 30 :
Alleging financial bungling and large scale nepotism-favoritism in Central University of Jammu (CUJ), the National Secular Forum (NSF) today urged Union Ministry of HRD to order high level probe to unearth the scandals.
Addressing a press conference, NSF state chief Dr Vikas Sharma said, “CUJ Registrar clandestinely disposed off the RTI application filed by NSF senior vice president who sought the information regarding the expenses incurred on travelling, boarding and lodging of Vice Chancellor Prof Ashok Aima during the last three and half years. It clearly shows that something is fishy which is being kept under cover by the varsity authorities.”
He further said that RTI applicant had also sought details regarding the appointments made by CUJ from outsourcing agency but the same was also denied on frivolous ground with the sole aim to suppress the information and mislead the information seeker.
“The information is being hidden by the authorities and lames excuses are given to justify the vague reply given by University PIO to the information seeker.
We have come to know that Vice Chancellor have appointed blue-eyed persons under the garb of outsourcing. Why University is not disclosing the name of people appointed through outsourcing agency? and asking information seeker to get the details from outsourcing agency despite knowing that private agencies doesn’t fall under the purview of RTI Act,” he asserted.
Dr Sharma added that it was a clear cut attempt to confuse and exhaust the information seeker. “CUJ Registrar, who is also first appellate authority, disposed the first appeal without even giving hearing to the aggrieved information seeker which itself is a violation of the J&K RTI rules,” he said.
The NSF state chief urged the Union Ministry of HRD to take notice of large scale irregularities in CUJ and immediately order high level probe to unearth the scandals.
Among those who were present in the press-conference included,Papinder Singh,Pushpinder Singh,Sahil Sharma and Shubam.
