North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala, an organisation of Ministry of Culture Government of India in collaboration with NAMI Dogri Sanstha Jammu (Regd) organised a Dogri Kavi Sammelan at KL Sehgal Hall Jammu. Seventeen poets of Dogri language took part in the poetic meet.The Kavi Sammelan was presided over by an eminent Dogri poet Inderjeet Kesar (KAS) and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn Additional Secretary of Cultural Academy was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Shahnawaz Choudhary was the guest of honour and Pandit Suresh Poonchi was the special guest.
The poetry spectrum presented by poets comprised social, environmental, anthropological , psychological , romantic , patriotic and regional dimensions penned in the form of gazals , poems , chamukhas and lyrics .Each poet enthralled the audience and was appreciated with repeated applause. The poetic contents, thought and presentation was of par excellence .
The poets who participated include Usha Kiran Kiran, Rakesh Sharma Tript , Santosh Sangra , Krishan lal Mast , Dr Chanchal Sharma , Mohan Lal Komal , Ram Sanyasi , Shakunt Deep Mala , Yash Pal Yash , Shambhu Nath Piasa , Capt Lalit Sharma , Bishan Singh Dardi, Romesh Rahi , Inderjeet Kesar, Dogra Harish Kaila and Rattan Doshi .
Capt Lalit Sharma in his opening address said that society associated with art and literature is always a vibrant and creative with positive out look . The literature and art wipe out inner venom and negativities of a person and make him humane and refine . Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn in his address described the poetic meet a great success in terms of its thought , content , flavour and literary standards . He said that creative ideas of the poets and artists should be disseminated in the public for benefit of the society.
Dr Shahnawaz Choudhary said that poets and writers change public perceptions and thought for a just ,vibrant and progressive society . Pandit Suresh Poonchi said that the Dogras have a proud and brilliant heritage and further stated that the poets , artists and writers has big role to educate our new generations so that they grow as responsible , proud and respectable citizens. Inderjeet Kesar in his presidential address appealed the public to read dogri literature to understand the Dogra etho , the dogra heritage and creative works of dogri writers . He said that Dogri literature can today compete with any language in terms of its quality , content , philosophy and diversity. Prof. Soubhagya Vardhan, Director represented NZCC .
The proceedings were compered by Nidhi Kaila President Youth Wing, Nami Dogri Sanstha, Dr.Chanchal Sharma, Organising Secretary, Nami Dogri Sanstha and Yash Paul Yash, General Secretary, Nami Dogri Sanstha. Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila, President, Nami Dogri Sanstha extended vote of thanks and expected more such joint literary programmes with NZCC in future as well .
