In some relief for Kollywood, the Tamil Nadu government has allowed resumption of post-production activities from May 11.

The Tamil film industry is in dire straits with tens of crores of rupees held up in process due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The Film Producers Council and several TV production houses petitioned Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami recently to allow films and serials in the post-production stage to be completed.

However this is not resumption of business as usual. Only some post-production work will be allowed but subject to restrictions: Editing (a maximum of five persons), dubbing (maximum of five), computer and visual graphics (10-15 persons max), colour grading known as DI (max 5) and sound design/mixing (five max).

Production houses should get approvals from the authorities before commencing work, the release said. They should strictly observe social distancing. Facial masks, hand sanitizers and disinfection of premises is must.
