One-week Faculty Development Programme on “Pattern Recognition & Image processing” concluded today at Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu. The FDP was organized by the Department of Computer Sciences & IT, in collaboration with IIT Roorkee. The FDP discussed various issues related to Artificial intelligence, Deep learning, and Image analytics with particular emphasis on the emerging research paradigms in data science with respect to its applications in various fields. The five days’ event included three theory technical sessions followed by practical hands on lab session every day.
The Chief Guest Prof. RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu, discussed the importance of such events in the curriculum of PG Courses. He appreciated the initiative taken by the faculty of MCA department Dr. Jatinder Manhas (Local Coordinator) & Dr. Abid Sarwar (Organizing secretary) under the able guidance of Prof. G M Bhat Rector Bhaderwah Campus for collaborating with prestigious and Premier institutes of India like IIT Roorkee. He also said that such collaborations improve the overall personality of academicians, researchers, scholars and students. Prof. Sharma said that Bhaderwah campus is an active campus where many events take place that help in overall development of students. He also thanked the resource persons from IIT Roorkee & SMVDU for training the participants on latest trends relevant to the current technological era. Prof. G M Bhat, Rector Bhaderwah Campus University of Jammu also appreciated the Department of Computer Science & IT for coordinating with E&ICT academy IIT Roorkee for conducting such technical workshop at Bhaderwah Campus.
Later an Iftaar Party was also organized at the Bhaderwah Campus, which was also attended by the Vice Chancellor.
