Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla has said that Jammu and Kashmir needs a stable government for effective governance. Addressing a public meetingsmeeting organized by Block President Satish Sharma and Baba Parmjeet Singh Wazir at Badhurakh in Gandhi Nagar constituency on Sunday, he appealed to the electorate to vote for Congress as it is the only party in the state which has its political base in every nook and corner of the state and is thereby capable of understanding the needs of the entire state and so able to provide a stable effective people friendly government.
He said the experiment of previous coalition government has failed in the state because various components of coalition were bonded by the lust of power bereft of any ideological understanding. Bhalla said three and half years of coalition government led to an administrative anarchy and chaos and brought the process of development in the state to a standstill.
He said in the name of development the PDP-BJP government in the state has given the state unemployment, financial mismanagement, poverty, bad roads, dry taps, poor health care and crippled education system.
“Congress is the only party, which can provide a stable Government in J&K and fulfill the aspiration of all three regions of the State, particularly, Jammu,” he said.He said that the BJP-PDP alliance, which lasted only for three years, failed to come up to the expectations of the people of Jammu as well as Kashmir.
“The BJP, which was voted to power to sort out the pending issues of Article 370, right to refugees, one time settlement of PoK refugees, delimitation, regularization of Daily Wagers, etc, totally forgot these issues and completely surrendered before PDP for the lust of power,” he alleged and lamented that no efforts were made to solve the problem of unemployment, contractual lectures, drinking water scarcity, irregular Power supply, compensation to the border firing victims. Listing the achievements of previous Congress Government at Centre as well as in Jammu and Kashmir, he appealed the party workers to go among public and apprise them about pro-people policies of the Congress.
