Pradesh Congress today held day long convention at Kathua constituency under the leadership of JKPCC Chief GA Mir. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Former minister Raman Bhalla, Former MLC Vikram Aditya, Former Minister & DCC President Kathua Dr Manhor Lal Sharma, General Secretary Manmohan Singh, Co-treasurer Rajnish Sharma, Shiv Kumar Sharma (INTUC), Girdhari Lal Chalotra(Ex-MLA), Subash Gupta (ex-MLC), Pankaj Dogra, , Smt. Zahida Khan, SP Bhamdari, Adv. Ajad Shatru, Pawan Sharma, Anil Sharma, Karan Singh, Smt. Anu Dogra, Gurdarshan Singh, OBC State Chairmen Suresh Dogra, Sardar Khan, Ravinder Pal Singh, Parmjeet Singh beside others.
JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir has said that only Congress will give equitable share to all the three regions of the state. “All parts of state including Jammu region shall get its due share in every sphere of life only when Congress is voted to power. The PCC Chief said that Congress will ensure justice and equal treatment to Jammu region and all parts when voted to power. “Congress always tried to give its due to all parts of the state in order to maintain peace and harmony and equitable development of each region,” he said and added that Congress is committed to ensure equal treatment and equitable share to the three regions, besides giving special attentions to the developmental need of backward pockets of the state.
Mir referred to numerous achievements of UPA 1st and UPA 2nd and said that tremendous development had benefitted each and every section of society, throughout the state and these development activities are visible even in present. He referred to massive developmental and other packages by the UPA Govt. to the state which were based on equitable approach in every sphere.
He said that when voted to power Congress will ensure and give due to every part of state. He lambasted the state and Centre to deal with the situation in Kashmir and on borders and questioned the policy of the centre government. The BJP has been totally ignoring the sentiments and rights of its electorate and expressed concern over the rise of communal, divisive and anti-national forces during the previous regime. He urged the people to remind BJP of its slogans and promises and teach it lessons for total sell out for power.
Mir in his address, described BJP and PDP as power hungry parties saying that there was nothing common between the two except power. He said that their alliance was ‘unsacred’ and ‘opportunist’ to share power only and finally it has been proved to be utter failure.
He said that the youth have to play a vital role in maintaining the secular fabric of the State and country and defeat the politics of exploitation and falsehood in elections of 2019.
He also asked the party men to strengthen the party. Depicting the BJP’s failure to respect the mandate and bartering the interests of the electorate of Jammu region in every respect, he said that BJP surrendered all its’ ideological stand and other promises to share power and has deceived the electorate.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Raman Bhalla said that peaceful atmosphere in the state, especially Jammu Region was vitiated and mistrust created by bringing the people and the regions eyeball to eyeball situation over various sensitive issues. “We decry the politics of hate and divide”, he said while cautioning the people against divisive politics being played by BJP-PDP which has already alienated Kashmir from the mainstream while the secular fabric of Jammu was greatly harmed. Bhalla claimed that BJP in their tenure has only added to the woes of common man, BJP in particular in Jammu region as it is involved in every anti-Jammu decisions by Govt. “BJP acted as dummy coalition partner in the Government as discrimination with Jammu province was being done at all ground either in recruitment, allotment of funds, development in tourist sector or overall development process,” he said and added that Congress is real voice of aspirations of people of Jammu province, that people have realized now.
Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma maintained that previous PDP-BJP coalition government failed in providing basic amenities like water, power and ration to the common person of the state. He also said that priority of BJP was not to empower people by strengthening democratic institutions but those at the helm of the affairs wanted to accomplish their selfish designs by controlling such institutions through undemocratic means. Terming the promises made by PDP-BJP government as “mere bluffs”, he said that voters were fed up with the “sheer opportunism” of these two parties. Both the parties took the extreme positions on most of the emotional issues and exploited their respective constituencies to the hilt, with a false and deceptive promise to keep each other out of power, if voted in strength.
Former MLC Vikramaditya Singh lashed out at the previous PDP-BJP Govt. for failure to respect the sentiments and aspirations of the people of the state, especially totally neglecting Jammu region in every sphere. He said that the real face of BJP is exposed after their coming to power in the state. They befooled the people of for seeking huge mandate and later betrayed them.
Senior Congress leader Pankaj Dogra highlighted the local issues of the people and said that BJP regime was worst during last 70 years. The people will defeat BJP to teach it a lesson, this time.
