An awareness camp was organised here at Narineketan to aware the inmates about their legal rights against certain crimes.
At the camp, organised by Management of Universal One Stop Centre for Women, the inmate girl students, women were told about various crimes committed against womenfolk at domestic level, workplaces or at any other location and the preventive and protective measures and legal entitlements available for them in such cases. In charge Narineketan Nidhi Sharma, OSC Coordinator Neetu Sharma, OSC Staff and inmates participated in the awareness camp.
The girl students were made aware about sort of violence the females face in private and public spaces, within the family, community and at the workplace. Girls were informed about stringent laws for protection against domestic violence, harassment at workplaces, trafficking, Eve teasing, stalking etc. Speaking on the occasion, Neetu Sharma said the women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse will be facilitated with support and redressal at OSC. She said the aggrieved women facing any kind of violence due to attempted sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, honour related crimes, acid attacks or witch-hunting can reach to OSC for redress.
She also informed that emergency response and rescue response, Medicare, legal aid and counselling, psycho-social counselling, assistance to women in lodging FIR and shelter are a few among other services being provided to distressed women at OSC.
During this awareness programme, OSC coordinator also talked about the swachh Bharat Mission and the participants were asked to put in extra efforts for keeping their surroundings clean and make Swachh Bharat Mission, a success.
