BDOs directed to remain at stations
GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 24: The District Panchayat Election Officer Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla, today directed the BDOs of district Ganderbal to remain available at concerned stations till the Panchayat elections are over in the district in compliance to Government directions.
The DEO made these remarks during a meeting of the Nodal Officers of district Ganderbal to review the arrangements and discuss specific issues pertaining to ensuing Panchayat Elections 2018.
To ensure the smooth conduct of Panchayat elections in the district, Nodal Officers for Modal Code of Conduct, Man Power Management, Transportation, Communication and Media Management have been designated. Various aspects pertaining to the elections were discussed in the meeting.
During the meeting, the nodal officers were briefed about their duties and roles besides all the key aspects of ensuing Panchayat elections were discussed including transportation plan, provisioning of polling material, accommodation, medical action plan and availability of minimum basic facilities.
The DEO called upon the concerned officers to stay prepared well before the polls. He asked the election officials to maintain utmost caution while performing their duties and further emphasized on maintaining coordination for smooth conduct of Panchayat polls. He emphasized upon the officers to acquaint themselves with the manuals and guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The DEO urged the District Panchayat Officer in tandem with District Information Centre to start massive campaign to generate awareness among people about the importance of Panchayat elections besides establishing grass root level democracy for overall development of the people especially living in rural areas.
He directed the designated officers to ensure that all arrangements and preparedness is fully in place at all the locations in advance to facilitate smooth filing of nominations papers, scrutiny, rejection of nominations and completion of polling process through the set pro- forma.
Besides the Nodal Officers, the meeting was attended by ADC Ganderbal, ACD Ganderbal, DPO Ganderbal and Joint Director Planning Ganderbal.
