JAMMU, Sept 13:
Very unfortunate on part of the J&K Sports Council (JKSC) that the autonomous sports body forced its senior coaches to fix banners at different locations of the city today .The banners give information with regard to the foundation laying function of the Arun Jaitely Memorial Sports Stadium at Hiranagar in district Kathua. So much so, senior most officer at Jammu, Divisional Officer, Ravi Singh was also seen monitoring the fixing of banners by the coaches, a number of them have been bestowed J&K’s highest sports honour, the Purshutam Award. The pictures of coaches, busy in a job against their dignity and stature, can be seen across different social media platforms.
There was widespread resentment among the people associated with the sports, who expressed their shock and anger.”Very shocking to learn that coaches are fixing banner. Coaches or Guru are most revered persons in sports Amptly said by someone that coaches, parents and players changes the world,” commented former Standing Committee member of JKSC and sports promoter, Ranjit Kalra on a social media site”These coaches are Nation builder and we must give respect to them as I am also coach….and authorities retreat these senior coaches like labour…” mentioned Asif. Only Dronacharya coach from J&K, Kuldeep Handoo endorsed the view point of Asif saying, “Very true sir”.”Sad to see senior coaches of JKSC being used as labour class to fix banners. Climbing walls, rotaries and bridges across Jammu City. Could an agency not be hired or could the class IV staff not assist them…Coaches are teachers, they are Gurus, revered. Do not lower their dignity,” senior Sports Authority of India (SAI) Basketball coach, Aman Sharma rued. International official in Taekwondo and ace athlete, Atul Pangotra also joined in expressing his anguish over the plight of coaching fraternity in J&K. Not for the first time, very often, the Secretary JKSC, a J&K services officer, often divert these coaches from their nature of job to please his bosses.
