Three days district level games for special children were organised at Youth Hostel, Nagrota by Special Olympics Bharat, J&K Chapter from 05 Apr to 07 Apr 2018. 299 special children of Jammu district participated in these games. A workshop and seminar for special educators was also organised on 05 Apr 2018. It was organised to provide an opportunity to special children to display their talent and for their motivation. Total 40 children of ASHA School Jammu Cantt participated in the event. Children of ASHA School participated in various games under different categories. The occasion was also utilised for special educators to interact with other teachers to discuss new techniques in special education, challenges faced and ways to handle them.
The children of ASHA School participated in the event with enthusiasm and zeal and put their best efforts which resulted in an exemplary performance from them. A total of 15 Gold, 14 Silver and 05 Bronze medals were won by children of ASHA School, Jammu Cantt. ASHA School, Jammu Cantt was declared as ‘Overall Champions of the Event’ while Dr. Meenakshi Gupta, Educator of the school was adjudged as ‘Best Faculty’ among all. Closing ceremony of the games was held on 07 Apr 2018. Mr M C Panwar, Deputy Inspector General, CRPF Group Centre Nagrota was the Chief Guest of the event. He awarded medals and certificates to winners and lauded efforts of ASHA School for outstanding performance of children. Other prominent guests present at closing ceremony were Dr Anjali Sharma, Director All India Radio J&K, Padamshree Dr S P Varma, Dr D R Kapoor, Chairman Sahyog India and Dr G R Bhagat, Retd IAS.
