A press conference was organized under the banner of Pathic Morcha with support of all the Sikh religious and social organizations who unanimously decide the candidature of Sardar Avtar Khalsa from Jammu Poonch parliamentary constituency. The need for contesting the forth coming elections has been felt as Sikh community has been neglected completely in social, economical and religious matters.
The dispensation at state and centre level has always betrayed the Sikh community. The practice of nominating Sikh community in the state legislature and state cabinet has been dispensed with by the present dispensation. Although Sikh community made great contribution in the freedom movement of the country and they were saviours of J&K state when invaders attacked our state in 1947 after paying a cost of more the 30,000 souls, they added.
They further stated that Sikh community feels alienated at the hands of state govt in mater of employment and other developmental activities. Now the community has felt the need to contest the elections and elect their own representatives who will fight for our cause. This decision has been taken in pursuance to suggestions expressed in the meeting held on 15.0.2019 at Gurdwara Talli Sahab Jammu were all the organization unanimously with one voice supported the candidature of a common candidate. It was agreed upon to take support of other organizations and Shiromani Akali Dal from Punjab also, they informed.
