Terming the dismissal of former JK Bank Chairman and launching of probe by the ACB into malfunctioning of J&K Bank besides selective backdoor appointments, corruption, nepotism and favoritism as welcome step, Dr. Vikas Sharma State President National Secular Forum(NSF) while addressing a press conference today said that despite earlier outcry of educated youth about illegal appointments in the bank, the matter was kept under carpet which ultimately saw the day of light with the sudden ouster of its Ex-Chairman from the chair and simultaneously initiating probe by Anti Corruption Bureau.
Dr. Vikas said that finding controversies bringing disrepute to the big financial institution ,the State government found no other alternative but to swing into action to clean the dirt and wrong doings in the functioning of Bank in order to streamline the functioning of Bank which overdue
Lauding the role Governor to gear up his administrative machinery to regain the sagging image of the bank and restore the dwindling trust of thousands of its customers, Dr. Vikas said smouldering resentment of youth against the J&K Bank for its lack of transparency, rising Non-Performing Assets (NPAs), financial irregularities and unfair recruitment process finally led to bold action of the Governor administration, which goes to the credit of Governor of the state. Dr. Vikas said that NSF through the RTI sought details of appointments made by the J&K Bank during the last four years without issuance of advertisement notifications, but the RTI information was declined on the plea that JK Bank does not fall within the ambit of RTI Act.
Regretting that while Post-graduates, M.Phil and Ph.D holders are languished on roads and pinning hopes to get jobs, Dr. Vikas said that the matriculates and equivalents were appointed as managers and Probationary officers in J&K Bank violating all rules and regulations on the whims and vagaries of Ex-Bank Chairman
Dr.Vikas demanded and appealed the Governor of the State to hand over the probe of JK Bank case to National Investigation Agency or CBI to deeply inquire into the corrupt nexus of ousted BJP/PDP leaders from the government and the former Chairman of JK Bank for getting their own relatives and blue eyed appointed on top positions through backdoor in the Bank despite lack of requisite qualification by disregarding the claims and credentials of highly qualified, meritorious candidates. High level probe by reputed agencies of Government of India is also imperative to find out the financial irregularities committed by the Bank at the instance of outgoing Chairman during the last four years Dr. Vikas added.
Among those who were present in the press-conference included Mashkoor ilahi Khan NSF University unit president, Kameshwar Ranab NSF University unit Vice-president and Sahil Sharma.
