Peaks XI lifts Hockey trophy

JAMMU, Dec 26:
Peaks XI today lifted the title trophy of 1st Chaar Sahibzade Hockey Tournament which was organised by Akali Kour Singh Sports Club under the aegis of Hockey J&K at K K Hakhu Stadium, here.
In the final, Peaks XI defeated Khalsa Club Gole Gujral by 2-1 in the well contested game. The winners were presented with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 while runners-up got Rs 5,000. In addition, special guest, Prof Satinder Kour awarded Rs 2500 each to the men and women winning teams.
An exhibition match for women also organised wherein Sahara Club beat K K Hakhu Club.
Winners and runners of women category received Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively.
Player of the tournament, Manpreet Singh got Rs 3100 cash prize while man of the match, Rupinder Singh of Peaks XI received Rs 2100 prize.
In the final and valedictory function, Parcharak SGPC Amritsar, Sarabjit Singh Dhotia was chief guest, who presented the title trophies and other individual prizes. Charanjeet Singh (MLC), Kanta Andotra (ex-MLA and president Hockey J&K), Manmohan Singh (ex-Mayor), Viney Sharma (SP South), Sandeep Mehta (SSP SOG), Kuldeep Singh Raja, Zahoor Ahmed (Secy Muslim Action Committee), Sunil Mahajan ( President J&K Athletics Association) were among other special guests.
This tournament held under the chairmanship of Avtar Singh Khalsa, Narinder Singh Khalsa (president AKS Club), Harmanan Singh (organising secretary) and G S Bakshi (tournament director).
