Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Thursday said that the people have to play a constructive role to control the drug menace in the society.
The Deputy Chief Minister was talking to media persons in central Kashmir Budgam district.
“I appeal to people in general to play a constructive role to control the drug menace which has found space in our homes and in the society”, Choudhary told media persons.
“We don’t know where from it is coming, but there is dire need to catch the drug traffickers”, he said and added “we hope that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will play a role and instruct police, who is under his belt, to put a break on the drug trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir”.

will work honestly will be paid money and those contractors using substandard material in their work would never be paid anything”, he emphasized.
Choudhary said that he will review the industry estates and said that “there were so many places where monkey business has taken place during the past six years”.
“Where ever our children would like to work we will provide them a good atmosphere and construct industry estates”, the Deputy CM said.
In reply to another question, he said “the corrupt system has come up in our hands and we will correct it and the people will see soon”.
Choudhary also launched work on Chewdara Beerwah bridge being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 14.15 crore in Budgam district.
The project, being executed under NABARD, will cater to a large chunk of commuters and general public as well, augmenting the connectivity in the area to great extent.
While speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the government is committed to holistic and sustained development of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that a new era of progress and prosperity has been ushered in the region with tremendous development in every nook and corner of the UT.
Choudhary directed the executing agencies to address the challenges impeding the project’s advancement.
“Work should be completed within the stipulated time so that cost escalation does not take place and the vital project is dedicated to the people in time”, the Deputy Chief Minister maintained and directed for a synergetic approach to remove bottlenecks, if any.
Later, he interacted with several deputations at Town hall and reiterated the Government’s commitment towards speedy development besides prompt public service delivery and redressal of grievances.
