Apni Party today expressed serious concern over failure in providing basic amenities to Jammuities like 24/7 electricity and regular supply of drinking water.
They also demanded compensation for the small businessmen and industrial labourers who suffered financially during COVID19 pandemic lockdown after its breakout.
As per a statement to the press, Apni Trade Union organised a joining function at the Apni Party office in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, where over 30 people joined the party. The joining programme was organised by Anirudh Vashisht.
Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary, Apni Party, Vikram Malhotra said that the Govt. should fix responsibility on the officials for their failure to provide 24/7 electricity supply in Jammu during the summer season.
While welcoming the newcomers into the Party, Malhotra said the people of Jammu have lost their hopes with the BJP because of failure of the administration to redress issues of the people.
“Development has become a distant dream for people in Jammu. The officials do not listen to the people. There is a complete disconnect between the Govt. and the public. Even the basic amenities like electricity, drinking water and cleanliness are not being provided despite repeated appeals. The sufferings have increased and BJP has become mute spectator pushing the people to unbearable difficulties,” said Malhotra.
He said that the COVID situation has exposed the ill planning in the health sector which needs to be revamped before the third wave. “We should sample all the people ward wise by involving local representatives for COVID19. No one should be left without testing. Like polio vaccination, a strategy should be chalked out to provide vaccination against COVID at the doorstep to all the people. It would be the best way to fight against COVID, besides strengthening our health care sector,” said Malhotra. Welcoming them into the party, Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister Manjit Singh appreciated their decision of joining the party and hoped that their joining will strengthen the Party.
Speaking on the occasion, Manjit Singh said that the COVID19 has affected normal life of the people weakening them financially as many businesses closed during this period.
“The Govt. should give relief compensation to shopkeepers, small businessmen, kiosks of fast food, vegetable and fruit vendors, industrial labourers, daily wagers and others who have lost the source of their earning and suffered losses due to lockdown after COVID breakout,” he said.
Provincial President, Women Wing, Namrta Sharma, while speaking on the occasion, said the unscheduled power cuts have put the people of Jammu to unnecessary hardships when the mercury is soaring over 40 Degree Celsius.
“The PDD should ensure 24/7 electricity to the people. Many areas like Greater Kailash, Sainik Colony, Channi Himmat and other parts of Gandhi Nagar Assembly Constituency have been suffering badly due to poor electricity supply. There is senior resentment among the people. They pay bills and get unscheduled curtailment when the electricity is needed most,” said Namrta.
President, J&K Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi also welcomed the newly joined people and said that they will work for the redressal of issues of employees.
He highlighted the demand of daily wagers, contract workers, CP workers and ITI trained workers and continued struggle for their regularization.
“The permanent employees as well as daily basis workers are the backbone of the Govt. as they keep the system running even in difficult times,” he said.
Prominent among those who joined the Party include Neeraj Thappa, Varun, Gurpreet Randhawa, Rohit Gandral, Vicky Kumar, Gari Ram, Ram Dass, Mohan Singh, Rama Choudhary, Abhi Tagotra, Mukesh Gupta, Vishal Singh, Vipan Kumar and others.
The function was attended by Apni Party leaders which include Provincial Secretary, Dr Rohit Gupta, SC State Coordinator Bodh Raj Bhagat, Vice President J&K Youth Wing and Media Coordinator Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, General Secretary Youth Wing, Abhay Bakaya, Vinod Pandita, State Coordinator Jammu Division, Atul Sharma and other active members.
