Keeping a positive outlook towards life with an increasingly hectic and at times stressful lifestyle can be challenging. But keeping negative emotions at bay can not only ensure peace of mind, but also have an impact on overall well being.
Research has found that while stress and anxiety can be tackled with positive emotions, they can also be beneficial for physical health. Research shows that writing about positive emotions for 20 minutes every day for three days led to better mood and fewer visits to the doctor.
Even writing about positive experiences for just two minutes a day has been seen as a reason behind reduced health issues. Writing about happy moments was found to be helpful irrespective of the level of distress.
Meanwhile it can’t be considered as effective for everyone, since people with disinterest in writing and difficulty expressing emotions may find comfort in other ways.
