PETs Orientation Course gets underway

JAMMU, June 09:
Second Orientation Course for Physical Education Teachers (PETs) of the
Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) got underway at Shrine Board Sports Complex,
Katra in district Reasi today.
As per the reports reaching here, PETs representing various Government schools of Reasi, Jammu and Udhampur are among the participants. In all, 45 PETs reported for the course which is being organised by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) in collaboration with Directorate of Youth Services and Sports. These PETs shall be oriented in the ceremonial activities, teaching and training in general and specific body conditioning, basic and advance skills of Athletics, Archery, Basketball, Shooting and Volleyball as also selection of Yoga Asanas and group discussions. Special lectures by the eminent doctors, sportspersons of international stature and sports medicine experts shall also be part of the
course, informed Director Sports, Ashok Kumar.
Earlier, the course was inaugurated by Additional Chief Executive Officer of SMVDSB, Anshul Garg
amidst welcome to all the participants and the resource persons. He asked the teachers, attending
the training, to keep focussed on the syllabus and priorities, identify the best and outstanding talent
in their respective institutions and send them to the centre of sports excellence being run by SMVDSB so that they be groomed into talented stuff.
