JAMMU, July 23:
A delegation of Physical Education lecturers today called on Apni Party, General Secretary, Vijay Bakaya to highlight their demands.
The delegation, as per the press statement, was led by Apni Party’s Youth Wing, State General Secretary, Abhay Bakaya.
During interaction with the Bakaya, the delegation appraised him that they have been recruited in the same way as the lecturers in other departments i.e., by the Public Service Commission and have the same pay band of 9300-34800 but their grade pay is 4300 whereas the grade pay of the other lecturers is 5400.
“This disparity is causing them great distress as their work is no less than that of lecturers of other departments,” the delegation appraised Bakaya.
Bakaya gave them a patient hearing and informed them that he has made enquiries and has been told by the Finance Department that their case is under active consideration of the anomalies committee.
Bakaya urged the Govt to remove the disparity in pay as it was in violation of the well-established principle of “equal work equal pay”. Bakaya stated that such an anomalous situation in the same school is demoralizing and the sooner the lecturers are bought at par in pay, the better it will be for their morale and performance
Those present included Dr Rohit Gupta Provincial Secretary Apni Party and Joginder Singh youth leader.
