Jammu, Oct 28:
Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) organized a sanitation drive here today under the nationwide Special Campaign 4.0, with an objective to promote cleanliness in government offices. All officials and staff of the two media units of the Ministry and Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, enthusiastically took part in the drive, cleaning every nook and corner of the Media Centre Building themselves. During the drive, old and obsolete printed material along with other scrap items was also disposed of. After the cleanliness drive culminated, many employees of PIB participated in another drive to plant saplings on the office premises as part of Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam to improve the environment. The campaign aligns with the nation’s quest for sustainable development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, a unique initiative combining environmental responsibility with a heartfelt tribute to mothers on the occasion of World Environment Day on 05 June, 2024, with the planting of a Peepal tree at Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi. The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change successfully met its ambitious goal of planting 80 crore seedlings under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign by September 2024. The essence of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is a symbolic gesture—planting a tree in the name of one’s mother. This simple act serves a dual purpose: honoring the role of mothers in nurturing life and contributing to the health of the planet.
Special Campaign 4.0 represents the vision of the Prime Minister for institutionalizing swachhata and reducing pendency in government, for changing old practices, weeding out old files and papers in government offices, better utilization of free space, improving sanitization protocols and above all technology adoption.
The campaign will enable creation of clean functional efficient citizen centric office spaces, where citizens can interact with the Government. The long-term outcomes of the Special Campaigns include digital empowerment of citizens and digital transformation of institutions.
