PM recalls Quit India Movement, hails Tiranga campaign

New Delhi, Aug 9 :

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday termed the ‘Quit India Movement’ as a watershed moment in India’s freedom struggle and paid homage to freedom fighters who participated in this movement led by Mahatma Gandhi. He also urged people to take part in “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign in the run-up to Independence Day.
In a social media post on X, PM Modi said, “Homage to all those who took part in the Quit India Movement under Bapu’s leadership. It was truly a watershed moment in our freedom struggle”.
Sharing his thoughts through a video message on the occasion, PM Modi also highlighted the movement’s significant role in India’s struggle for Independence from colonial rule.
He emphasized that due to Quit India Movement, the country’s current collective voice, advocates for a nation free from corruption, dynastic politics and appeasement.

On July 28, PM Modi had called for a nationwide campaign promoting the Indian flag with the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan (campaign) during his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
The Bharatiya Janata Party will launch the third edition of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ 2024 campaign, to celebrate the Indian flag leading up to the 77th Independence day.
The BJP will hold Tiranga Yatras in every assembly constituency from August 11 to August 13, he added.
On August 14, Partition Remembrance day will be observed across all districts with a silent march, party general gecretary Tarun Chugh said.
On August 13, 14 and 15, the ‘Tiranga’ (national flag) will be hoisted and flown at all homes and business establishments, “turning the entire country into a sea of saffron, white and green”, he said.
