“In the way, our package and demands are being destroyed under preplanned conspiracy by the Government of India and the Governor’s administration; PoK DPs have decided to launch indefinite Chain Dharna that will begin from Thursday i.e. December 27, 2018 until and unless our main key issues related to PoK DPs are not fulfilled, this was stated by S. O. S. International Chairman Rajiv Chuni in a Press Conference at its headquarters in Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.
While interacting with media persons here today, Mr. Chuni said that PoK DPs are fed up of the brutal approach of Government to resolve the issues of the community who have been starving for the last 70 years and living under inhumane conditions as Government has failed to provide much needed justice for the foremost victims of State who took first ever bullet in order to save the existence of this erstwhile princely State. “The Chain Dharna marks main key issues related to PoK DPs in which implementation of PoK DPs package passed by NC-Congress Cabinet in 2014 in toto, implementation of uniform policy for all the migrants/displaced communities including PoK DPs, establishment of corridors for PoK DPs to visit their religious places & shrines located in PoK, restoration of 1/3rd i.e. 8 seats lying vacant for PoK areas in Legislative Assembly, inclusion of 5300 DPs families living outside the J&K State in the ambit of package for PoK DPs and return of cash deposits of PoK DPs laying in the J&K Bank, Mirpur Branch”, Mr. Chuni revealed.
He further said that S. O. S. International has been writing for seeking time from Governor for the last 3 months but no response has been received so far. S. O. S. International in its last Press Conference has warned the Government of playing dirty gimmicks against PoK DPs but the spree did not end therefore, we have launched this Chain Dharna.
“Governor has made tall claims that he is available to everyone, doors of his office are open to all the citizens of the State, his administration is always ready to mitigate the sufferings of people but unfortunately all the claims have been proved farce.
Mr. Chuni said that PoK DPs from all over the State and outside the State will participate in this Chain Dharna protest to express their grief and aggression against the Government, the Dharna will start at 11 a.m. and will end at 3 p.m. daily. “We were made fools and shown green gardens but this time, the scenario will be totally different as this time, PoK DPs will show their power by rooting out all hostile forces that exploited us in one way or other. He further said that every day 5 PoK DPs will sit on Chain Dharna at S. O. S. International office and if at all situation arises this Chain Dharna starting from Thursday may converted into Fast-unto-Death to fulfill our demands. He appealed PoK DPs from across the state and country to support the struggle until much awaited justice is awaited”, he added.
Prominent among others who were present includes Prof. N. N. Sharma, V. K. Datta, Ved Raj Bali, Tilak Raj Sethi, Pramod Ghai, Harpal Singh Sudan (Rajasthan) & Bhai Ram Singh.
