In its ongoing drive to eliminate drugs from society, Police have arrested four drug peddlers in the twin districts of Srinagar and Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Police on Sunday said, a Police team established a checkpoint at Noorbagh Chowk and intercepted a vehicle with three persons on board.
During the search, 184 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
The accused have been identified as Ahmad Bin Ishaq Kawa resident of Nawakadal, Daniyal Ahmad Basati of Palpora Noorbagh and Taha Yasir of Aalikadal Srinagar.
Meanwhile, in Budgam, Police at a checkpoint established at Aripanthan intercepted a suspicious person identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie resident of Saranhal Batpora Budgam.
During the search, 3 sticks of charas-like substance wrapped in a corn husk, weighing about 61 grams were recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
“We appeal to the public to report any instances of drug trafficking or other criminal activities in their vicinity by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112”, Police said.
