Police arrests 3 smugglers in Ganderbal; seizes illicit timber

Srinagar, Mar 2:
Police on Tuesday arrested three timber smugglers and recovered illicit timber in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal. A police spokesperson said that acting on specific information regarding the timber smuggling, a police party arrested three timber smugglers and seized illicit timber at Mamer Kangan in Ganderbal. He said the accused have been identified as Mohammad Yousuf Thakrey, Nazir Ahmad Thakrey and Showket Ahmad Baniya, all residents of Kangan. “Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kangan and investigation has been taken up,” he said. Our consistent actions against anti social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities,” he added.
