During a recent interview promoting her latest film Deva alongside Shahid Kapoor, actress Pooja Hegde firmly addressed an interviewer’s repeated questioning about her collaborations with Bollywood’s biggest stars. The interaction, which took place during an interview with E24, saw Hegde expressing her frustration when asked if luck played a role in securing roles opposite actors like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor.Initially taken aback by the interviewer’s query, Pooja Hegde responded by asserting her merit. “I mean… of course, I deserve it. I think there must have been some reason jo unhone mujhe cast kiya tha woh films mein. (There must have been a reason why they cast me in those films),” she said. However, the interviewer pressed further, suggesting that many actors who transition from South Indian cinema to Bollywood struggle to work with leading stars, unlike her.Pooja Hegde made her acting debut with the Tamil film Mugamoodi in 2012 before transitioning to Bollywood with Mohenjo Daro (2016) opposite Hrithik Roshan. She has since starred in major films such as Housefull 4, Cirkus, and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Her latest release, Deva, featuring Shahid Kapoor, hit theatres on January 31, 2025.
