POONCH, Jan 24:
Beating Poonch Gladiator 3-2 in a tough contest that lasted for full five sets in the final, Poonch Royals won the Poonch Volleyball League which was organised by the Shaheed Manjit Singh Volleyball Club under the aegis of Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK) at Government Degree College (GDC) grounds, here today.
Tied at 2-2 at the end of set four, Poonch Royals clinched the thriller winning the decider by a wafer thin margin of one point making it 15-14. The score: 15-14, 12-15, 15-13, 11-15, 15-14.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Yogal Sharma was the chief guest, who amidst interaction with the finalist teams appreciated the winners for their fighting spirit in the all important game.
He also appreciated the working of chairman of Shaheed Manjit Singh Club, Mohd Tariq aiming at promotion of sports among youth.
Also present were Saleem Banday (AEE), Munish Sharma (AD Fisheries), Davender Singh, Rakesh Sharma and Jagjeet Singh.
