The employees of Power development department in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir today observed ‘Complete Pen Down, Tool Down-Lock Down’ against the unilateral move of the Government to operationalise the Unbundling of the department, without involving the employees who as major stake holders are apprehensive of the move of the Government. Acting on the call of PEECC, the employees voluntarily joined in the Pen Down, tool down call expressing resentment on the move of the government to split the Government department into companies.
The Pen Down along with tool down affected the planned electrification works along with Bill generation, distribution, refressal of consumer grievances in the revenue centers along with the hampering of the information transmission to higher authorities centeres of PDD along with the work in the Divisional offices also remained affected as employees refused toentertain the consumer grievences pertaining to the Bills and abstrained from any official work in offices. However in orde to avoid inconvenience to consumers, the rapid action teams for fault resolutions/maintain of supply were allowed to continue their assignments. Later members led by Er.Jaipal Sharma, Chairman PEECC, Er.Sachin, Convenor PEECC, Ajaz Kazmi, Gen Secty PPEU, Sanjeev Bali President PPEEU,Kulbir Singh, Secretary EEU, Balbir Singh, President, Draftsman association, Anil Slathia,Lineman Union-Majeet Singh,Tarun Gupta,Pawan Ganotra, H.D Singh from Technical employees federation, Er. Sushma Parihar Gen Secty FOJE met Divisional Commissioner Jammu on the issue submitting memorandum shared concerns that arise out of the proposed move of the Government and sought his intervention to help the coordination committee meet His Excellency Governor Sh.Satya Pal Malik Ji. Similarly Cordination committee leaders leaders from Kashmir met Divional Commissioner Kashmir.
The PEECC resolved that this pen down along with tools down shall continue till administration takes measures to involve the stakeholders in the consulatative process and reaffirms that vvefore putting anything into implementation proper procure will be adopted.
It is vehemently appealed to The Governor Sh.Satya Pal Malik that Power development department should be retained as a Government department and allow this large sector of employment opportunity to grow strongly.
