Rajouri, DEC 01:
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), a flagship housing scheme by the Government of India, is making significant strides in the border district of Rajouri. This initiative aims to provide permanent, secure housing to economically weaker sections, Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, and other deserving individuals.
According to the Municipal Council Rajouri, a total of 1,022 houses have been sanctioned under the PMAY scheme within the municipal limits. Of these, 567 houses have been completed, around 200 are under construction, and work on the remaining houses is yet to commence. The scheme initially offered ?1.66 lakh to beneficiaries, but this amount has been increased to ?2.20 lakh in three installments, ensuring adequate financial support for construction. This boost has been welcomed by beneficiaries, enabling them to build homes that are not only durable but also provide a sense of dignity and stability.
Local residents have expressed their gratitude to the Government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing such an impactful initiative. Beneficiaries have also commended the Municipal Council Rajouri for its proactive approach in approving cases without unnecessary delays. They have also thanked the district administration of Rajouri for their timely support and assistance in the successful implementation of the scheme. “We are deeply thankful to the government for giving us the opportunity to own a safe and permanent home. It’s a dream come true for our families,” said one of the beneficiaries. The locals have also appreciated the government’s efforts to prioritize the housing needs of the poor, emphasizing that such programs significantly uplift the community’s standard of living.
As work progresses on the remaining houses, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana continues to bring hope and happiness to hundreds of families in Rajouri, reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive development and welfare
