District Development Council Chairman Jammu Bharat Bhushan today chaired a meeting of the council to review the progress of developmental works under Capex 2024-25 Budget.
The meeting witnessed participation of Vice Chairman Suraj Singh and all DDC members, besides Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh, Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, ACD Dr. Vikas Sharma, AD Planning Satish Sharma and Block Development Officers. The focus was to assess the status of key projects and address the bottlenecks, if any, to ensure their timely completion.
The meeting took a comprehensive review of ongoing works of Power Development, Jal Shakti, School Education and Health, besides others.
The ADDC Sher Singh provided a detailed overview of the up to date status of developmental projects, facilitating productive dialogue between the DDC members and the district officers.
In his address, the Chairman stressed the need for systematic desilting of irrigation canals, emphasising that the task must be carried out thoroughly, reaching the tail ends of the canals. “Desilting is crucial for ensuring that our agricultural lands receive the necessary water supply,” he stated.
The DDC Chairman also highlighted the need to improve the district’s power infrastructure. He called for timely execution of the Jal Jeevan Mission, urging departments to expedite ongoing works to meet project deadlines. He further urged officers to focus on strengthening the healthcare infrastructure, with particular emphasis on enhancing the staff strength in rural health centres.
During the meeting, a resolution was also passed calling for funds to be allocated for the repair and renovation of tube wells and lift irrigation projects.
The Chairman reiterated the importance of keeping DDC members informed about the status of ongoing developmental works within their respective jurisdictions. He noted that close coordination between the members and district officers is vital for ensuring transparency and accountability in the execution of various projects.
