Actor Priyanka Chopra recalled in a conversation with India Today how she had no clue that she had the power to ask for equal pay. “That doesn’t happen in our industry.” she exclaimed; she continued by telling how many women aren’t aware of it.The former Miss World gave more insights into the subject claiming she was ‘surprised’ saying, “They were just like ‘let’s just ask the question.’ So, I didn’t even know that I had that power.” She emphasised how she did not have an inkling that she could ‘aspire for more’ as she was told that this was normal and had to accept it.Our Desi Girl has often addressed the issue of pay parity in the industry. She also highlighted on the point that women should be given a voice instead of being dominated and dictated on what or how their beliefs should be. “Giving women agency in their lives is a powerful thing. I think so many women around the world don’t even know they have a choice in their lives because so many choices are made for them.”The actor recently produced the latest Prime Video documentary titled ‘Womb (Women of My Billion).’ The documentary revolved around the story of Srishti Bakshi, who walked a pilgrimage from Kanyakumari to Kashmir i.e. 3,800 km to dig up stories about the rights, accomplishments and aspirations of women in the face of affliction. Priyanka is currently working on her Hollywood project Heads Of State by Ilya Naishuller and was recently seen seeking benedictions at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya with her family alongside husband Nick Jonas and daughter Malti Marie.
