A protest demonstration was held today at Marh Chowk by the people of the area mostly belonging to Panchayat Karloop. It was alleged that Tehsildar Babu Ram who was previously posted as Tehsildar Marh and presently at Tehsil Mandal was specially deputed by the administration under the influence of former B.J.P M.L.A Ch. Sukhnandan Kumar as duty officer and has manipulated the Panchayat election of Karloop.
In the first, counting for the election of Sarpanch Devinder Kumar Sharma was leading but after sometime the said Tehsildar entered the counting hall and recounting was ordered and after the recounting S. Harjit Singh was declared as elected as Sarpanch with the margin of 21 votes which surprised and shocked the people of the said panchayat and since the day of the counting till day they are demanding re-poll in panchayat Karloop to provide justice to the people of the area.
In today’s meeting the adjoining people of the areas also joined the protest and threatened that if re-poll will not be ordered they will go for mass agitation.
