BJP District RS Pura President Harbhajan Singh Pummy alongwith District General Secretary Akash Chopra today called on DC Jammu Anshul Garg and ADC Ramesh Kumar and discussed several issues pertaining to shortfalls & brought into the notice of DC Jammu, several issues pertaining to restoration of irrigation system of agricultural land, compensation to landowners for agriculture land being used for defense purposes along the International Border in the area. Pummy asked the administration to expedite the pace of the project to complete them in a time frame. He asked the administration to intervene and take concrete measures to solve these issues at the earliest.He said RS Pura Constituency is almost a ‘Farming Community’ and its Basmati Rice is worldwide famous. The Ranbir Canal water, the only lifeline of the farmers for cultivation need immediate repairing and desilting. “RS Pura is at the tail end of Ranbir Canal and the water level is so low, that it becomes very difficult for the farmers to cultivate their land”, he said. There is no proper way of disposing of household waste. All the waste of the main town RS Pura gets accumulated in “Purkhoo Nallah”.Pummy further said that recruitment drive for this border belt was held some 20 years back and since then, no recruitment drive has been conducted.No recruitment drives have been conducted for the youth of RS Pura constituency in the para-military forces, which is compelling the youth to join hands with their old age family business ‘agriculture’ leading to anguish among the youth.Singh also demanded improvement in the sports infrastructure in RS Pura.
The lone stadium of the constituency ‘Bana Singh Stadium’ has turned injury prone due to lethargic approach of the concerned authorities. Singh said that during the last one decade Pakistan authorities are indulging into importing drugs in J and K in general and Jammu region to particular to spoil the new generation.“Targeting Jammu region through Narco terrorism is a biggest gameplan of Pakistan”, he said and pointed out that border areas like R S Pura, Bishnah, Arnia have been specially targeted by the Pakistan to accomplish their nefarious designs.“It is a fact that this belt has always played a dominant role in all historical agitations launched in Jammu region from time to time to restore dignity and honour of the people”, he said.
