Rafiq Malik, State President of Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJSP), Jammu and Kashmir, expressed serious concerns over the problems being faced by the poor people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference today at Press Club of Jammu, Rafiq Malik said that recently he toured Kashmir Valley and held meetings at several locations to take stock of the problems being faced by the poor people. He observed that the challenges faced by common people have escalated significantly, particularly due to the surge in power bills after the installation of smart meters.
“It has become increasingly difficult for the poor to manage power bills ranging from Rs 1,500 to 2,000 per month,” he stated, emphasizing the need for relaxation in power bills to alleviate the financial burden on the impoverished communities.
While acknowledging the positive development of the train reaching the Kashmir Valley, Malik expressed concerns about the potential negative impact on the business community of the Jammu region.
arrival of the train is a welcome step, but from a business perspective, it poses a serious concern for traders in Jammu. There is a dire need to develop and promote tourism destinations in the Jammu region to counterbalance the economic impact of enhanced rail connectivity,” he said.
Vikram Singh, General Secretary of LJSP, J&K, also addressed the media, highlighting the critical issue of unemployment affecting the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the Lieutenant Governor to expedite the process of filling vacant positions in various government departments. “Unemployment is a severe issue for our youth, and it’s imperative that the government should fast-track the recruitment process to provide much-needed employment opportunities,” he emphasized. Vikram Singh also brought attention to the Rs 25,000 crore package announced by the government in the past for industrial units in Jammu and Kashmir. He pointed out that industrialists are not prioritizing local youth for employment, as per government norms. “The government must ensure that industrialists give prior priority to local youth and offer adequate salaries to support their livelihoods,” he urged.
The senior LJSP leaders appealed to the government to take immediate action to address these pressing issues, emphasizing the importance of supporting the poor and unemployed in Jammu and Kashmir. They highlighted that sustainable solutions and proactive measures are essential for the well-being and economic stability of the region’s residents.
